Sunrise Helicopters operate the R44 Raven II, built by the Robinson Helicopter Company, manufacturer of the world’s most popular civil helicopters. The R44 is for those who expect excellence but appreciate value.
Quite simply, the Raven delivers the performance of an expensive turbine helicopter at an affordable piston price.
For our clients this means the helicopter can be chartered at a price which is often 2/3rds that of a turbine. Its sleek design, impressive speed, and unparalleled reliability give it a further competitive edge. In fact, according to official figures it is even faster than its nearest turbine rival, the Bell 206 Jetranger

The Raven's distinctive aerodynamic design allows a high cruise speed up to 216 km/hr and a range of 640 kilometers.
The cabin offers comfortable "two plus two" seating and it has no bulkhead or post between the front and rear seats, assuring exceptional visibility and panoramic views for all passengers.

As an environmentally aware operator we are pleased to be operating an R44 helicopter as it has substantially lower fuel consumption than a turbine helicopter and a significantly lower decibel, noise ‘footprint’. For the residents of the Yarra Valley this means less air and noise pollution when we operate over this beautiful area.
Our ‘sensitive flying’ policies also mean that we avoid wherever possible low flights over noise sensitive areas. When operating away from the airfield and landing at helicopter landing sites, it is also our policy to avoid low flights over houses on final approach unless this is absolutely necessary for safety and/or weather reasons. |

| The popularity of Robinson helicopters with pilots and operators is evidenced by the level of demand. For the last several years Robinson piston engine helicopters have outsold turbine helicopters. |
 |
To date, Robinson has built over 4500 R22 helicopters, and nearly 2500 R44s. In 2003 a new record was set with the delivery of 422 new helicopters. Despite the number of Robinson helicopters in the industry the safety statistics are impressive.
When it comes to reliability, piston engines like those used in the R44 helicopter, continue to establish better reliability records than turbine engines. Despite being the top-selling helicopter in its class during the past eight years, the R44 continues to have an outstanding safety record compared to other light helicopters and turbines.
